Tara & Andrew Akler Ketubah
A beautiful couple I’ve had the pleasure of knowing several years, and they granted me the honor of designing their Ketubah, a traditional Jewish marriage contract, for their wedding. I worked side by side with the couple to design a one-of-a-kind piece that best represents them and their love.
The main imagery shows the couple intertwined, reminiscent of the day they pledged to wed, anchoring a tree of their life together.
Andrew’s love of music led to the design of the tree base, weaving staff lines with the lyrics of their first dance song.
The top of the tree is made up of small symbols important to the couple, emblematic of their future together.
The left side of this contract, written in English, and the right side, written in Hebrew, leaves space for the important information to be handwritten by the couple on the day of the wedding.
This traditional Jewish contract will hang in the couple’s home, a public showing of their love for one another.
