STAR 99.1
An uplifting, positive & encouraging radio station based in Zarephath, NJ (WAWZ), where I served for 3+ years in their Promotions & Events Department. First as an intern, then as an assistant, and now as the Promotions Coordinator – organizing the radio station’s presence at everything from local community events to large-scale concerts, and hosting the annual Enchanted Evening: A Daddy/Daughter Dance.
STAR 99.1 is a part of the Pillar Media group, sister station to STAR 93.3 (WAKW, Cincinnati Metro)

Daddy/Daughter Dance
Enchanted Evenings by STAR 99.1 is a time for Dads and Daughters to pause and to celebrate this cherished relationship God has placed in their life. Now each year over 400 Dads and Daughters join together for a night dedicated to helping strengthen their bond through dress-up, dinner & dancing.
Not only does this event continue to touch the lives of so many, it truly did change my life.
I attended the first dance with my dad in 2022, which is when I first got connected professionally with the staff at STAR 99.1 – soon after, I was welcomed onto the team as a Promotions & Events Intern. I ended up becoming a co-lead for the 2023 Daddy/Daughter Dance, and when the time came to start planning the 2024 dance, I had been entrusted to solo-lead in organization and execution of the whole event. Within the six months following, we planned and launched the first Daddy/Daughter Dance at the sister STAR station in Cincinnati, OH (WAKW, STAR 93.3), and now have plans to bring it out to the third STAR station in Denver, CO (KSRC, STAR 101.5).
The rest shall be, as they say, history!

Concert Caravan
The STAR 99.1 Concert Caravan was born as a solution to a problem – how do we make sure the radio station has a significant presence at large-scale events nearby that are otherwise inconvenient to attend? We pack a bus full of STAR 99.1 listeners and give them the VIP concert experience!
In July of 2025, we conducted our first Concert Caravan to see Chris Tomlin’s Worship Under the Stars LIVE in Central Park, NY! 40 avid STAR 99.1 listeners, joined by Skip & Kristen of the STAR Morning Show, piled into a coach bus for a roundtrip experience to Central Park – complete with meals (sponsored by a local Italian restaurant, Sapore), VIP lanyards, and tickets to the show.

In-Station Visits
Every so often we have large gatherings join at the radio stations – both for internal guests and professional clients. These visits take shape in a multitude of ways, but typically will involve a version of a promotional setup.
We hosted a Volunteer Luncheon for our All-STAR Volunteer Team – as a mixer for both our newer and older volunteers, and to teach about our typical events setups.

A conference room with people attending a presentation. There are tables with chairs, a large screen displaying 'Let's Eat,' and a sign for Star 99.1 radio station near the entrance. The room has a drop ceiling with fluorescent lights, a wall clock, a doorway, and a potted plant. A table with snacks and a blue tablecloth is in the foreground.
A setup for a visit by up-and-coming artist Emerson Day, who performed for a room full of STAR Volunteers, associates, and a virtual livestream of listeners.

Concert Events
STAR has promotional setups at concerts by our artists in our listening range. Location, size, venue, and other onsite parameters will impact what our setup looks like and how many volunteers can help support our booth. But what never changes is the amount of people we get to meet whose lives are impacted on a daily basis by this radio station. It ‘wow’s me everytime!
We work on a regular basis with promotors like Awakening Events & Transparent Productions, and at venues like the Prudential Center, Carteret Performing Arts & Events Center, & Calvary Temple International.
Community Events
Since STAR is a listener-supported radio station, we try to participate in local events as much as we can. Oftentimes we’re approached by people hosting community events in our area that they’d like STAR 99.1 to be in attendance – and as long as our calendar is free, we’re happy to oblige!
With my time at the station, I’ve attended various holiday parades, Halloween/Harvest Festivals, Easter Egg Hunts, Night to Shine events, & miscellaneous events being put on by churchs, charitable organizatons, or companies advertising on the radio station.
